One to Watch: Pete Coggan - Take Heart EP
More often than not, the most moving of melodies come from a quiet place of integrity and honesty.
London based singer-songwriter and impressively bearded Pete Coggan has just released his first solo project; a six track EP titled 'Take Heart’.
We have known Pete for some time through his moving image studio, First Light and were somewhat taken aback by the beauty of his first solo offering when it arrived in the Creative Arts towers last week.
Pete’s debut record feels genuinely real, honest and expresses the vulnerable story of a man moved by something greater than he. Pete's vocal is soft, airy and delicate, perhaps slightly haunting and ethereal. His harmonies are gentle, light-handed and cheeky at times. His lyrics speak of faith, coupled with the fragile nature of life and commitment to something greater.
The whole record reminds me of a mix of Dry the River, José González and Pedro the Lion, but sits in a strange unique combination of future hope, steadfast love and endurance.
In short, we love this record and are already looking forward to the follow up. You can purchase the whole EP through iTunes here.
